Breaded Prawns

This is a quick, simple and tasty way to make a prawn starter. It comes in handy especially when unexpected guests drop in; or, you simply want to treat yourself to some yummy appetiser.

Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 10 minutes
Portion : 4 portions
 
Ingredients:  
Prawns (Medium-sized. Shelled with tails on, de-veined and washed) 600 grams
Oil (for deep frying) ½ litre
Breadcrumbs 1 cup
Eggs 1 no.
Red Chilli Powder A pinch
Freshly Crushed Black Peppercorns To taste
Salt To taste
 

Preparation Method:

 
1.           In a bowl, mix the prawns with red chilli powder, salt and pepper. Keep aside for 10 minutes

2.          Beat the egg in a bowl

3.          Place the breadcrumbs in another bowl

4.         Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat

5.          While the oil is being heated, dip the prawns in the beaten eggs and roll in breadcrumbs. Fry in hot oil in batches till they are crispy. Remove and drain on a kitchen towel. Fry the remaining prawns

6.         Serve hot with Chilli Mayonnaise.
